Becoming A Fine Art Photographer
with Jane Conner-ziser
Becoming visually distinctive in your work is challenging but imperative if you want to stand out from the crowd and be recognized as a fine artist (worth more money).
It happens in three steps. The first is education which surprisingly many feel not to be worth their time (not fun) when the truth is that education gives one the tools and power to create beyond what everyone else is doing.
The second is imagination and feeling free to experiment with one’s ideas and fantasies (fun). We all like to play, don’t we?!
And, finally, every bit as important as the first two combined, is creating valid, repeatable products from your imagination that you can replicate with any client, price at a consistent profit and deliver in a predictable amount of time. In addition, one must learn how to showcase and sell it and lead the clients towards purchasing your most profitable items. In other words, it’s more work than fun to begin with, but once a photographer establishes it, not only is it more fun than work, but getting to be more creative more often will reflect in even your everyday photography, making all of your imagery visually distinctively yours.
In this presentation Jane will share how she positioned her fine art portraiture, how she priced it and marketed it; what worked and what didn’t, and what she is doing now.
